Sweet Surprises..

It's the little things...the "just because" things that make me smile!

My sweet and artful friend Erika left me a little box of treasures at my door for no reason at all...just to say "thinking of you"...there were embellished little notecards, sweet shabby pencils in a sewn pencil pouch, a fabulous sparkly "K" and a beautiful cross necklace...(pink and blue of course!)  It just made my day and thrilled me!  Girlfriends are just THE GREATEST!  Have a beautiful week!

Tempest in a Teapot..

I have been in love with a special publication by Somerset Life.      The Marie edition from April, 2009....

It is full of amazing project ideas and I have been captured by the "Tempest in a Teapot"..

It is shown on page 95 of this special edition   and I have been gathering inspirational items in order to bring my own "Tempest" to life!

                                        My "TEMPEST"!!!

She came to exist through many travels...
the half  doll I purchased for $10.00 in Chicago.
Her outer dress found in in upstate NY, the teapot I
                          found in CA.

I had a  little box which I placed all of the
inspirational pieces into, and on a rainy Sunday,

It was  time to bring her to life...

She is divine and sweet and holds a bouquet of flowers
                                     close to her face..

The back of her dress is a bustle which displays a
sweet rose pin and bias bustle.

She is pretty in photos, but in real life, is one of my
                     most favorite creations.. ever!

Blessings for Marie, and all creations which
                      may inspire you!!!

"Crowning of the Angels"

And on the last page of the book of your life..
may the angels write...PEACE.

                                                           Angel of Mercy...

                                                           Mother of Peace..............

                                               Angel of the little children.....

                                                   Sleeping Angel.............

This is the start of a new series for my greeting card line, HEARTFELT BY KAREN PAIGE HILLMAN...

This series is based on my love of visiting and paying tribute to historic cemeteries... It is about finding angel statues, and crowning them with a blessing and a photo.

Today, along with my camera, I had a bag of little crowns and flower garlands which I placed upon their heads.

These photos were shot in a 1910 cemetery in Fort Lauderdale.... peace, love and beauty floated through the air.

I couldn't help but think that I, myself, might earn a jewel in my heavenly crown someday for sending a prayer to the person whose resting place exhibited one of these angels...

Once I had photographed, I said a silent prayer in my heart.

I decided I shall go back in the coming weeks and place a permanent crown on each of these angels.

"A Crowning of the Angels..." this makes my heart happy!

Little Blessings held with love!

It has been a blessed day today...  Satine our standard poodle gave birth to 7 beautiful puppies!  I am so grateful it  went perfectly smooth and they are all healthy and growing bigger everyday.  we have 4 females and 3 males and my daughter gave them all names from Gone with the Wind....Rhett, Scarlett, Ashley, Beau, Belle, Melanie and Bonnie Blue.

I am going to enjoy every moment of cuddling and loving them until they go to their new homes.  I have so much work to do in the art studio, but I have been glued to the pups  for hours on end just watching and admiring them...time to get back to work!  Have a beautiful weekend.

A Poodle Palace!!

My Friday night project.... I found this unique piece in my travels this Summer and knew I wanted to use it for something special.  It is a very old French pocket watch casket.  It was used on the dresser to hold the watch and display it when it wasn't being worn.

I own a beautiful standard poodle, Satine whom I adore and in just about 2 weeks she will be having her first litter of puppies.  I have never had a puppy experience before and am very excited!  I found these little miniature poodles and they were the perfect size for my vision in the watch casket.  I took out the inside and used crystals, some vintage flowers and embellishments and......

It became "THE POODLE PALACE!"  It is ever so sweet and I love how it came to life...it will be a treasure to always remind me of Satine's first puppies!
